Zoe Hewitt
is an award-winning entertainment news reporter who writes for multiple outlets, including Variety.  She specializes in the Artisans section and focusing on the important crew members who are integral to the production process.

Zoe’s Variety article from a visit to the set of David Ayer’s new movie “The Tax Collector” won first place at the National Arts and Entertainment Journalism Awards through the LA Press Club.  It was in the feature story under 1,000 words category. This is the first time an article from the Artisans section has ever won; Zoe wrote about productions filming in high-risk areas.

Zoe also earned back-to-back nominations at the Southern California Journalism Awards through the LA Press Club.  In 2019 she was recognized for the same article that later won the national award and in 2020 for an investigative story about social media influencers taking jobs from union photographers.

Zoe has completed numerous location and set visits on behalf of Variety, such as an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Disney’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge before it opened to the public, a visit to the hallowed grounds of the Disney Animation studios for “Frozen 2” and a trip to Budapest for the series “Jamestown”, among others.

Zoe enjoys hosting/moderating Q&A panels for film festivals and live events.  Recently, she moderated a (remote) panel for the Costume Designers Guild focused on the Costumes of the Marvel Universe.  Back in the pre-pandemic days, she moderated multiple standing-room-only panels at Comic-Con International in San Diego, as well as at WonderCon and SIGGRAPH, among others.

Zoe worked for years with “Good Morning America” on their Oscar broadcasts covering red carpets at the Vanity Fair and Elton John AIDS Foundation parties.  She also worked with AMC Theatres conducting cast interviews for current films.  Some of the well-respected actors she’s interviewed include Chadwick Boseman, Harrison Ford, Diane Keaton, Will Smith and Kate Winslet.

Prior to this, Zoe worked as the Vice President of Television for International Promotions, an award-winning product placement/brand integration agency.  It was her job to integrate client brands including Volvo, Corona and Ben & Jerry’s into all of the top television shows through close relationships with producers, cast and crew.  Zoe secured more television placements than anyone else in the company’s history and also held the record for signing more new accounts than anyone else while she was there.

Zoe has a degree in English with a concentration in creative writing and minor in film analysis from Hollins University.  She graduated Phi Beta Kappa.

Outside of work, Zoe has a passion for experiencing new cultures and has traveled the world extensively, including living abroad in Japan where she learned to read, write and speak Japanese.  She also loves crafting with her Cricut!

Zoe is based in Los Angeles and available for contract or permanent work in other parts of the country.
