Zoe Hewitt is an award-winning entertainment news reporter.
Zoe’s Variety article from a visit to the set of “The Tax Collector” won first place at the LA Press Club’s National Arts and Entertainment Journalism Awards. Zoe wrote about productions filming in high-risk areas and it was the first time a story from Variety’s Artisans section has ever earned individual awards recognition.
Zoe broke the news about Stephanie Beatriz (Mirabel, “Encanto”) recording “Waiting on a Miracle” while she was in labor, a story that was repurposed by multiple outlets and became a trending Twitter topic. She also broke the news about COVID on the set of “Red Notice” starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Zoe’s work product includes investigative pieces, biographies and entertainment features. She has completed numerous location and set visits on behalf of Variety, both domestically and abroad.
Zoe also enjoys hosting/moderating Q&A panels for film festivals and live events. Recently, she moderated a panel for the Costume Designers Guild focused on the Costumes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She has also moderated numerous panels at Comic-Con International in San Diego, WonderCon and SIGGRAPH, among others.
Zoe worked for years with “Good Morning America” on their Oscar broadcasts covering red carpets at the Vanity Fair and Elton John AIDS Foundation parties. She also worked for AMC Theatres conducting cast interviews. Some of the well-respected actors she’s interviewed include Chadwick Boseman, Harrison Ford, Diane Keaton, Will Smith and Kate Winslet.
Prior to this, Zoe worked as the Vice President of Television at International Promotions, a top product placement/brand integration agency. She worked with producers, cast and crew to integrate client brands into television shows. Some of her clients included Volvo, Ben & Jerry’s and Corona. Zoe secured more television placements than anyone in the company’s history, and also held the record for signing more new accounts than anyone else.
Zoe has a degree in English with a concentration in creative writing and minor in film analysis from Hollins University. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
Outside of work, Zoe has a passion for experiencing new cultures and has traveled the world extensively, including living abroad in Japan where she learned to read, write and speak Japanese. She also loves crafting with her Cricut!
